Emmanuel Owusu Acheampong, secretary to Cynthia Mamle Morrison, the Member of Parliament for Agona West, has condemned the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) decision to expel him and 279 others, including his boss, calling it a “defeatist approach.”
The NPP announced the expulsion of these 280 individuals, effective December 16, 2024, citing their support for or affiliation with another political party. Many of those expelled were electoral area executives.

In a statement, the NPP outlined that the expelled members were barred from presenting themselves as party members, holding party positions, participating in meetings, or using party symbols or flags.
Speaking on Eyewitness News on Citi FM on December 23, Acheampong described the expulsion as a sign of “arrogance and ineptitude” within the party, accusing the leadership of ignoring the concerns raised by the affected members.
“It is a sign of a defeatist approach. It is a sign of the arrogance, the ineptitude that we spoke about even while our party was in government, issues that we raised that were never paid attention to that has brought us to this position that we find ourselves at Agona West,” Acheampong stated.
