Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, Board Chairman of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), has resigned effective immediately after facing extortion allegations from one of the bank’s customers.

According to sources, his resignation came following an emergency board meeting held on Thursday, October 10, 2024, where the Chairman chose to step down in the bank’s best interest.
The resignation follows a petition by Collins Darkwa, a bank customer, to the Office of the President. In his petition, Mr. Darkwa accused Daasebre, who also serves as Kwahumanhene, of extorting a significant sum from him in exchange for securing a GH₵12 million loan.
Mr. Darkwa detailed that Daasebre demanded an upfront payment of GH₵50,000, followed by further payments for the loan’s approval, and sought presidential intervention to recover a total of GH₵2,408,000 from the Board Chairman.
“Under pressure from my suppliers to secure logistics for the cashew supply, I had no choice but to agree to the terms,” Mr. Darkwa stated.
Despite meeting these demands, Mr. Darkwa alleges that Daasebre continued to press him for more funds, threatening to leverage his position to undermine the business if he refused.
