Daniel Asiedu, also known as ‘Sexy Don Don,’ has refuted claims made by the Police that he sought forgiveness to appease the soul of the late J.B.

Danquah Adu, the former Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North. Asiedu clarified that although this statement appeared in his record, he was forced to sign it.

During cross-examination by Sefakor Batsa, the Principal State Attorney, Asiedu told the High Court in Accra that the video showing him kneeling and pleading for forgiveness was “staged.”

He explained that he did not demonstrate how he entered the residence in East Legon, committed robbery, or killed the deceased. If he had done so, the evidence would have reflected that, he argued.

Asiedu revealed that when he was taken to the house of the deceased, the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, allegedly threatened him, saying, “Do what I’m telling you.” He stressed that his actions in the video were a result of this strong warning to cooperate with the Police.

Asiedu further stated that he had never been to J.B. Danquah Adu’s residence on February 8, 2016. He added that had he been there, the household staff and security guard would have noticed him.

He described how, after being led to the house at gunpoint, he was forced to remove his sandals, walked barefoot to the room, and was directed to kneel and place his hands on the floor.

On the night of February 7, 2016, Asiedu explained that he was at Agbogboloshie, simply seeking enjoyment. He also denied the prosecution’s claim that J.B. Danquah Adu’s mobile phones were found on him, explaining that he had gone to the Regional Police Command to file a theft complaint.

Asiedu rejected claims that he knew a woman named Janet, whom the Police identified as his wife and four months pregnant. He stated, “I have not impregnated anyone.

Janet was a commercial sex worker with whom I had a one-night stand. I can’t even remember her or any of my own siblings because it’s been eight years.”

Additionally, Asiedu denied the prosecution’s assertion that a handkerchief and T-shirt, both stained with blood and found at the crime scene, contained 100% of his DNA.

Currently, Asiedu is facing charges related to the murder of J.B. Danquah Adu at his residence on February 8, 2016. He has pleaded not guilty to the murder charge in front of a seven-member jury.

The court, under the supervision of Justice Lydia Osei Marfo, has remanded him into custody, and the case has been adjourned to November 21, 2024, for the prosecution to finish its cross-examination.
