The second day of the Concerned Citizens Against Galamsey protest kicked off with high energy as demonstrators convened for a ‘morale’ session before marching through the streets of Accra to demand urgent action against illegal mining activities.

Organized by the pressure group Concerned Citizens Against Galamsey, the protest aims to raise awareness about the significant environmental damage caused by illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey.
Young participants filled the air with chants, songs, and drumming, boosting the crowd’s enthusiasm before embarking on the march. The demonstrators plan to present a petition to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources today, Friday, October 4.
In an interview with Eyewitness News on Thursday, October 3, the group’s convenor, Brownson Adatti, announced that the protest will continue on Saturday, October 5, when they will deliver another petition to Parliament to further advocate for action against galamsey.
