In a bid to represent the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the parliamentary race for Krachi East constituency in the Oti Region, five individuals, among them one female candidate, have taken the initiative to vie for the party’s nomination.
The aspirants who have picked up nomination forms include Mr. Michael Yaw Gyato, who previously ran as the party’s parliamentary candidate in the 2020 elections. Alongside him are Mr. Timothy Kwasi Koki, a respected Tutor at Dambai College of Education, and Mr. Jacob K.Y Nlanlil, a reputable businessman. Additionally, two other businessmen, Mr. Amphury Akamah Sarpong and Madam Pearl Akua Agyemang, who was the party’s parliamentary aspirant for Kpone Katamanso constituency in 2015, complete the list of contenders.
Sharing this information with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr. Prosper Odugbe, Secretary at the constituency’s party office in Dambai, urged all aspirants and their supporters to conduct themselves in strict adherence to the party’s constitution and code of ethics. It is crucial, he emphasized, for the parliamentary hopefuls, their followers, and other party members within the constituency to prioritize the collective interests of the party over personal ambitions, thereby ensuring success in the upcoming 2024 elections.
Mr. Boateng Gyamfi, the constituency Chairman, expressed the party’s expectation that all parliamentary aspirants will carry out their campaigns with dignity, contributing to the unity and strength of the party after the primaries.
Following the loss of the Krachi East constituency to the National Democratic Congress in the 2020 elections, the forthcoming elections are eagerly contested, and each candidate seeks to secure the party’s victory in the area.
