Democracy Hub announces plans to embark on a three-day protest starting on September 21st

Democracy Hub has announced plans for a three-day demonstration scheduled from September 21st to 23rd at Revolutionary Square, located across Liberation Road opposite the Jubilee House.

The group has formally notified the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, as required by the Public Order Act.

The protest, organized to commence at 6:00 am, aims to highlight pressing national issues such as socio-economic inequality, unemployment, increasing poverty, state capture, nepotism, corruption, and the call for judicial independence.

“Democracy Hub, the Convenor of the #FixTheCountry movement and #OccupyJulorbiHouse protests, wishes to notify the public and media outlets of our upcoming peaceful protest under the theme “A New Constitution for a New Generation”.

“The protest will begin at 6:00 AM on 21st September and conclude at 11:59 PM on 23rd September 2024; and is scheduled to take place at the Revolutionary Square across Liberation Road, opposite the Jubilee House. Democracy Hub has formally notified the Inspector General of Police in accordance with the Public Order Act.

“The purpose of this protest is to address several critical issues affecting Ghanaian society, including socio-economic injustice, unemployment, increasing poverty, state capture, nepotism, corruption, and the importance of judicial independence.”

The group reiterated its dedication to conducting a peaceful and well-organized demonstration. In September 2023, Democracy Hub organized a similar protest known as #OccupyJulorbiHouse, during which some members were arrested by the police.
