Anita Powell, White House Correspondent for Voice of America (VOA), described the mood among Kamala Harris’ supporters in Washington, D.C., as somber and filled with disappointment following her loss in the presidential election.

Harris was defeated by Donald Trump, who secured more than the 270 Electoral College votes required to reclaim the White House, marking his return after his first term from 2017 to 2021.
On the morning of Wednesday, November 6, 2024, Trump declared victory after winning crucial battleground states such as Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia.
The Associated Press soon confirmed his win in Wisconsin, sealing his path to the presidency.
In an interview with Bernard Avle on The Point of View on Channel One TV, Powell emphasized that although the election proceeded smoothly with polls closing nationwide on November 5, Harris’ supporters remain deeply disappointed and frustrated with the result.
“Washington DC and its environs are a Democrats stronghold, so the mood amongst the citizenry here is, of course, something you would expect, people are disappointed, people are upset.”
