The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has refuted claims of land theft by government officials, asserting that public lands are secure under the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration.

This statement follows concerns raised by North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who alleged that the government has sold lands belonging to institutions like the DuBois Centre, the Park and Gardens, the Judicial Service, and the Prisons Service to cronies.

In a press briefing on Wednesday, August 14, Jinapor dismissed these accusations, stressing that the management and use of public lands are conducted with full transparency and integrity.

“The overarching question all the time should thus be what use was a particular land put, does it serve the public interest.

Distinguish guests, ladies and gentlemen, as managers of public lands we are not oblivious of our fiducial duty to the people of Ghana.

“Under the able and outstanding leadership of President Akufo-Addo, we will continue to discharge these duties transparently anchored on the highest standards of integrity, candour and utmost good faith to ensure the protection and judicious use of public lands in the public interest and for the ultimate benefit of the people of Ghana, the true owners of these lands.

“I am happy to report to the country that the public lands of Ghana are intact and secured under the current government,” he stated.
