Fenerbahce center-back Alexander Djiku has been named in Otto Addo’s latest Black Stars squad for Ghana’s two important matches against Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The former Strasbourg defender was initially included in the squad for the games against Angola and Niger but had to withdraw due to injury. He was replaced by FC Basel’s Jonas Adjetey Adjei.

Fortunately, Djiku has now fully recovered and played for his club on Thursday night.

His presence is expected to strengthen the shaky defense of the four-time champions, who are aiming for two consecutive victories after failing to win their first two matches.

In addition, Ernest Nuamah returns after missing previous games due to injury. The Lyon winger will be joined by fellow French Ligue 1 player Gideon Mensah, who also regained full fitness a few weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Thomas Partey will remain as captain of the team, while Andre Ayew’s chances of returning seem to be diminishing.

Key players such as Jordan Ayew, Antoine Semenyo, and Mohammed Kudus will retain their spots in the squad as Ghana looks to get back on track.

Ghana is set to face Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday before heading to Libya for the second leg.
