Daniel Domelevo has addressed Ghana’s ongoing struggle against corruption, particularly in light of the nation’s stagnant performance in the latest Corruption Perceptions Index, where it maintained its rank at 70th out of 180 countries, scoring 43 out of 100, unchanged from 2020.
As the former Auditor General, Domelevo stressed the critical significance of leadership in setting the tone for anti-corruption efforts.

He emphasized that strong leadership sends significant signals across the system, profoundly influencing the approach to combating corruption.
In an interview on Joy News, he said: “We’re holding the bull by its tail. We are looking for small flies to use as examples in our fight against corruption, instead of holding the top officials accountable”.
Domelevo voiced apprehension regarding the diminishing effectiveness of the Auditor-General’s office, attributing the decline to actions initiated against him by the president.
He indicated that the atmosphere of fear among personnel impedes their ability to hold public officials accountable, fearing repercussions akin to his own experiences.
