Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the lead defendant in the ongoing ambulance trial, has launched a scathing attack on Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame’s conduct, citing an alleged audio conversation with co-defendant Richard Jakpa.

The Minority Leader believes the AG’s behavior is a gross deviation from the expected standards of his office and warrants condemnation from all well-meaning Ghanaians.

In a strongly worded affidavit filed on May 31, Dr. Ato Forson expressed his firm belief that the AG’s conduct has irreparably compromised the trial’s integrity and necessitates a mistrial.

He argued that the AG’s actions are driven by a desire to secure his conviction at all costs, rather than a genuine pursuit of justice.

The affidavit states, “It is in the interest of justice that the court declares a mistrial, given the AG’s reprehensible conduct, which seeks to secure my conviction unjustly.”

During cross-examination, Richard Jakpa revealed that the AG had been contacting him at odd hours, seeking testimonies against Dr. Ato Forson.

This, combined with the alleged 16-minute phone conversation between Jakpa and the AG, has sparked widespread outrage, with some demanding the AG’s resignation.

The opposition NDC has released the audio tape, which the NPP claims is “doctored and manipulated.”

While the AG’s office has downplayed the tape’s significance, Dr. Ato Forson’s legal team argues that the AG’s conduct warrants a mistrial.

The developments have ignited intense discussions among Ghanaians, with many calling for the AG’s accountability and the upholding of justice and fairness in the legal process.
