Dr. Kwaku Agyeman-Budu Retains Position as GIMPA Law Faculty Dean

The Council of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) has renewed the appointment of Dr. Kwaku Agyeman-Budu as Dean of the GIMPA Faculty of Law for a second and final three-year term.

Dr. Agyeman-Budu, who was first appointed in September 2022, will now continue in the role until August 31, 2028. His reappointment followed recommendations from the Institute’s Renewal Committee and subsequent approval by the Appointment and Promotion Committee.

A statement signed by the Secretary to the Institute, Dr. Victoria M. Kunbuor, confirmed that the new term takes effect from September 1, 2025.

At 37 years old, Dr. Agyeman-Budu is distinguished as the youngest academic to hold the deanship at GIMPA.

He becomes the fifth person and fourth substantive academic to lead the Faculty of Law. Prior to his initial appointment, he served as a senior lecturer and headed various law centers within the institution.

His teaching portfolio covers constitutional law, international human rights, humanitarian law, and intellectual property law.

His research interests span criminal law, international criminal justice, business and human rights, and legal ethics.

Beyond his academic work, Dr. Agyeman-Budu oversees the African Centre of International Criminal Justice and the African Centre on Law and Ethics at GIMPA.

He also plays a key role in coordinating the Judicial Service of Ghana’s internship and clerkship programme, which facilitates the placement of law students in courts across the country.
