Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer, urged Ghanaians to rally behind the Electoral Commission as it prepares for the 2024 general elections.
He emphasized the need for collective support and prayers for the commission, acknowledging the challenging nature of their role.
In a press conference after submitting his nomination forms on September 9, Dr. Bawumia expressed his optimism in the EC’s ability to deliver a successful election.
He noted that the commission’s task is often underappreciated, as they become the target of criticism from disgruntled parties in the event of a loss.
Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of seeking divine guidance for the EC, saying, “We must pray for the Electoral Commission, as they undertake this daunting task. May God grant them strength and wisdom to execute their duties effectively.”
He expressed confidence in the EC’s capabilities, stating, “I believe they are capable of delivering a credible election.”
