Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) Chairperson Jean Mensa has admitted to errors in the visual representations of registered voters in the ongoing limited registration exercise, which ends on May 29, 2024.

The EC faced criticism for inaccuracies in social media graphics meant to update Ghanaians on registration progress.

On May 28, 2024, Jean Mensa addressed the media, explaining that software issues caused the mistakes.

The commission has since switched to using Excel to prevent similar errors. “We’ve abandoned CorelDRAW and switched to Excel to ensure accuracy,” she said. “Although we may not have colorful graphs, our focus should be on accuracy, not aesthetics.”

Jean Mensa emphasized the commission’s commitment to transparency and trust-building by acknowledging and addressing mistakes.

“As a listening commission, we’re committed to resolving electoral issues. We’re transparent about our mistakes and take corrective action to build trust.”
