Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, has praised the collaboration between her office, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, and the National Elections Security Task Force, calling it “fruitful” and commending the IGP for his “amazing work.”

During a meeting with the national election security task force at the Electoral Commission headquarters on Monday, July 8, 2024, Mensa expressed her confidence in the security agencies to ensure incident-free polls in the upcoming national election on December 7th.
“I’m pleased to report that all our activities have been successful and inclusive, allowing all citizens who wished to register the opportunity to do so,” she said.
“This success would not have been possible without the cooperation of our security agencies.
We’ve had productive meetings with the IGP and the National Security Task Force, and I want to acknowledge the outstanding work they have done.
Our collaboration has been extremely beneficial, leading to successful operations so far,” Mensa added.
She highlighted the efficiency of the national election security task force, led by the IGP, in providing security for EC personnel and their activities nationwide.
“The police presence at all our registration centers and the protection provided to our mobile teams were greatly appreciated.
We remain committed to working with the security agencies to ensure our goals of free and transparent elections are achieved,” she affirmed.
IGP Dr. Akuffo Dampare, in his remarks, expressed gratitude for the cooperation from the public, the EC, and other stakeholders.
“We are thankful for the support we’ve received. I encourage everyone to continue supporting the police to maintain Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of hope. This is our only country, and we must ensure its peace,” he stated.
