The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has announced that for the 2024 elections, presidential results will be first declared at Regional Collation Centres before the national announcement at its headquarters.
This approach aims to enhance transparency in the electoral process, according to Dr. Eric Bossman Asare, the EC’s Deputy Chairperson in charge of Corporate Services.

Dr. Asare emphasized that this decision aligns with the structure outlined in CI 127 for conducting presidential elections.
All political parties have agreed to the new process, and their agents will be present at polling stations and collation centres.
Results will be compiled at polling stations, forwarded to constituency collation centres, and then to regional collation centres, where announcements will be made before the final declaration.
This new procedure allows voters to track results region by region, contributing to a more transparent election process.
The EC expressed confidence in the effectiveness and inclusiveness of this approach.
The announcement was made during the launch of the Election Day Observation and Post-Election Action Plan by the Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) on October 17.
CODEO plans to deploy 4,000 polling station observers across the country, which further supports the credibility of the upcoming elections.
Members of the diplomatic community have praised CODEO for its consistent role in monitoring Ghana’s electoral processes.
