The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has released the ballot statistics that will guide the printing of ballot papers for the upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary elections in December 2024.
This announcement comes as part of the EC’s efforts to ensure a smooth electoral process.

According to the EC, the ballot statistics are based on the total number of voters registered in the 2024 Provisional Voters Register (PVR), with an additional two percent included to accommodate potential fluctuations in voter turnout.
The Commission expressed confidence in this methodology, stating that it has been a standard practice since 1992 and will prevent shortages or waste in ballot quantities.
In a statement issued on October 14, the EC encouraged the public to trust its ability to deliver on its mandate. It also reaffirmed its commitment to transparency by ensuring that ballot statistics will be provided to all candidates, political parties, and printing houses prior to the commencement of ballot printing.
The EC clarified that the printing of ballot papers has not yet begun and that the printing of Notices of Polls for the elections started on October 11, 2024.
The Commission reiterated that printing of the ballot papers will only commence once all stakeholders have received the necessary statistics, assuring the public of a credible, free, and fair electoral process.
