The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has officially withdrawn its contract with Yasarko Printing Press Limited, initially selected to produce presidential and parliamentary ballot papers for the Oti and Western North regions in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

In a press release dated October 25, the EC announced that Buck Press Limited and Acts Commercials Limited will now be responsible for printing in the Oti and Western North regions, respectively.
This change follows significant concerns raised by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) regarding the transparency and reliability of the original arrangement.
The NDC questioned Yasarko Printing Press’s impartiality in handling this sensitive task and urged the EC to ensure the integrity of the ballot production process.
The party also called for enhanced oversight across all printing contracts to prevent any potential ballot tampering.
The EC’s election preparations have been under close scrutiny, with ballot and notice printing beginning on October 11, 2024.
The NDC stressed the need for rigorous oversight in competitive regions and requested timely updates on contractor selections to build public confidence.
In the press release, signed by Deputy Chairman Samuel Tettey, the EC reaffirmed its commitment to fair and transparent processes, promising vigilant oversight of the printing.
The Commission also emphasized that Buck Press Limited and Acts Commercials Limited would adhere to strict security standards to maintain the integrity of the ballots.
