The Electoral Commission (EC) has addressed an incident involving the transport of election materials for Afadjato South District, where the District Electoral Officer (DEO) used a private vehicle without a police escort.

The incident, which occurred on December 5, 2024, resulted in the police taking custody of the materials as part of their ongoing investigation.
Despite the breach of protocol, the EC assured that this incident would not impact the elections in the area.
In a statement signed by Samuel Tettey, Deputy Commissioner of the EC in charge of Operations, the Commission confirmed that the officer’s actions violated established procedures. The EC further emphasized that it is conducting internal investigations while fully cooperating with the police.
“The policy of the Commission is for its officers to transport all Election Materials in official vehicles with police escort where necessary. The Commission will conduct its own internal investigations while also cooperating with the Police in their investigations.
“We wish to assure the Public that though the Officer breached the policy of the Commission, the actions of the Officer will not in any way compromise the elections in the Afadjato South Constituency.
