Amid fears of power outages in Ghana, popularly known as ‘dumsor’, the Electricity Company of Ghana in conjunction with Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCO) has announced to it’s costumers an imminent power interruption.
According to ECG, the power outages, which is scheduled to last for eight (8) days would affect residents of the North-Eastern parts of Accra.
In a bid to make it less worrisome for customers, ECG has grouped the areas into four. Customers in the affected areas will see 12 hours outage in the daytime; while the next one would come three days after, at nighttime.
It stated that, “the Pokuase Bulk Supply Point (BSP) which is near completion and sponsored by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) under the auspices of the Millennium Development Authority (MIDA) will require a tie-in to GRIDCO’s 330kv transmission line.
“This exercise will require a complete shutdown of the 330kv line thereby affecting power supply reliability to the Mallam BSP.”
This maintenance is expected to effect from Monday, 10th to Monday, 17th May, 2021.
