African governments and education authorities must join forces to tackle the common challenges facing education delivery on the continent, according to Ghana’s Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.

He emphasized that education administration and management challenges are shared across African countries, requiring a united and spirited approach to overcome them.

During a courtesy visit from the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Minister for Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education, Tony Mwaba Kazadi, Dr. Adutwum stressed the importance of a pan-African approach to remove bottlenecks hindering efficient teaching, learning, and research.

Mr. Kazadi is leading a delegation on a working visit to Ghana to study the country’s education sector reforms and strategies.

Dr. Adutwum highlighted Ghana’s efforts to ensure no child of school-going age is deprived of education, focusing on quality, innovation, and technological advancement.

The Congolese Minister commended Ghana for implementing numerous steps and interventions to ensure access, equity, and quality, describing Ghana’s education transformation as inspiring.

Congo DR is particularly interested in learning from Ghana’s adaptation of technology in education, including the Ghana Smart Schools Project.

“We have realized that the challenges are the same; therefore, the solutions can be the same. We must not sit in our different countries looking for solutions when we could explore what has worked for our counterparts on the continent” Mr. Kazadi emphasized.

During their visit, the delegation will tour educational facilities and ICT infrastructure, engaging with education sector stakeholders.

They have already visited Accra Girls and Achimota Schools, interacting with students benefiting from the One-Student-One-Tablet initiative launched by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
