Efua Ghartey, the newly elected President of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), has committed to ending internal divisions and fostering unity within the association.

Emphasizing the importance of collective effort, she urged members to collaborate toward achieving the GBA’s objectives.
“The Bar has spoken, and from this day forward, it is a united Bar in service. No divisions, no factions. That chapter is over,” Ghartey declared after her election in Kumasi on Wednesday.
Her election represents a historic moment for the GBA, highlighting the rising influence of women in Ghana’s legal profession.
With over 30 years of legal experience, Ghartey’s leadership is widely recognized as a reflection of her commitment, expertise, and prominence in the field.
In the closely contested election held during the GBA congress, Ghartey secured 1,278 votes, defeating her nearest rival, Agbesi Dzakpasu, who garnered 1,060 votes.
