Today, April 30, 2024, voters in the Ejisu constituency will head to the polls to elect a new Member of Parliament, following the passing of John Kumah, who was elected in 2020 on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ticket.
Kumah, who served as Deputy Finance Minister at the time of his passing, was also the NPP candidate for the December 2024 elections.

Notably, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the main opposition party, has chosen not to field a candidate, citing a strategic decision to focus resources on the 2024 general elections.
Among the candidates vying for the seat is Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, a former NPP MP turned independent candidate.
Born on September 7, 1960, Aduomi holds a BSc (Hons) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and is a senior member of the Ghana Institute of Engineers.
Aduomi’s impressive resume includes stints as Highways Engineer at Tamale Highways (1987-1994), Project Engineer (1994-2002), and Regional Director (2002-2008).
He also served as Member of Parliament for the Ejisu Constituency from 2009 to 2020, when he was defeated by the late John Kumah in the lead-up to the 2020 elections.
Additionally, he has served as Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways.
The candidates, in the order they appear on the ballot paper, are:
- Esther Osei (CPP)
- Kwabena Boateng (NPP)
- Beatrice Boakye (LPG)
- Kwabena Owusu Aduomi (Independent)
- Gabriel Agyemang Joseph (Independent)
- Attakorah Joseph (Independent)
