The Ekumfi Traditional Council has called on President-elect John Dramani Mahama to ensure equitable distribution of Ghana’s wealth, particularly to the Central Region.

The council highlighted Mahama’s respect for traditional authorities nationwide as a key factor in his strong public endorsement, urging him to uphold this mandate during his tenure.

The council also criticized remarks by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo earlier this year, which suggested that Ekumfi had been denied development due to their voting patterns in the 2020 parliamentary elections, favoring a candidate from the opposition.

Odeefuor Akyin VIII, President of the Council, emphasized the importance of fair development across all regions, including Ekumfi.

As the successor to late President John Evans Atta Mills, the Traditional Council says they will continue to recognise President-elect John Dramani Mahama as a son of the land, thus urging him to do the needful.
