Cardinal Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson has urged prominent political figures in Ghana’s upcoming elections to participate in debates devoid of acrimony.

At the IDEG Ghana Speaks High-Level Forum 2024 in Accra on Thursday, October 10, Cardinal Turkson emphasized the need for healthy and respectful discourse as the country approaches the December elections.

He encouraged politicians to prioritize constructive engagement that fosters unity and democracy, rather than resorting to divisive language or hostility.

“Our three protagonists who are going to be influencing the conduct of the elections in December—one exiting (Akufo-Addo), two (Mahama and Bawumua) coming on and therefore debating among themselves.”

“This is a very healthy activity to engage in and to take place which should not involve any acrimony except that there are some other motivations which are not declared and those motivations come out all the time,” Cardinal Turkson stated.
