For the first time, the Electoral Commission (EC) will post guidelines on its website for handling problems during the 2024 elections, like over-voting and errors in results forms.

These guidelines will be available to everyone, not just election officers, and there will also be a postcard version for election workers and observers.
The EC will publish detailed results from polling stations and other levels of counting on its website before the 21-day deadline for filing election petitions. This will help people who want to challenge the results in court.
Dr. Serebour Quaicoe from the EC explained these changes at a forum hosted by the Institute of Democratic Governance (IDEG).
The forum, attended by political parties, civil society groups, and the media, aimed to discuss how to handle election irregularities.
Dr. Quaicoe assured that all polling station results will be available before the deadline, though it will take some time to scan and upload them.
IDEG’s Patrick Richard Okine highlighted the importance of addressing past election issues to ensure a fair 2024 election.
Mr. Kwesi Jonah from IDEG recommended that the EC include these guidelines in training for political party polling agents so they know how to handle any problems that arise.
