Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Chairman of Operations at Ghana’s Electoral Commission, has urged leaders of political parties to be cautious with their public remarks to help prevent violence.

Speaking at the National Peace Campaign on November 3, Mr. Tettey highlighted that careless comments could escalate tensions, erode trust, and lead to violent incidents.
He called on party leaders to take responsibility and be thoughtful in their statements.
“Our appeal is directed at the leaders of the political parties to be circumspect and responsible in their communications. Our words can create tensions and suspicions, undermining trust and confidence, which could result in violent outcomes.”
Mr. Tettey’s call comes as Ghana prepares for its general elections on December 7.
The Electoral Commission also reiterated its commitment to conducting transparent elections, which is essential for maintaining peace and stability in the country.
