Dr. Kojo Asante, Director of Advocacy and Policy Engagement at the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), has urged Ghanaians to actively participate in the voting process on December 7.
He emphasized that abstaining from voting could lead to others making decisions that do not reflect individual preferences for leadership.

While acknowledging that some citizens have expressed reluctance to vote due to economic challenges and unmet promises from political parties, Dr. Asante stressed the importance of exercising voting rights.
He highlighted the various options available for selecting a preferred candidate and encouraged all eligible voters to head to the polls to ensure their voices are heard. Dr. Asante made these remarks during a discussion with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Channel One TV’s Face to Face.
“People are frustrated, some people think they don’t have a choice, some people say they won’t vote. After 16 years of NPP and 16 years of NDC, there’s a lot of evaluation and reflection that is going on. But at the minimum to keep the wheels of democracy going, we still have to elect a government.
“Why don’t they try the other candidates who are on the ballots? If you don’t vote somebody will still decide for you. I think you are better off and say at least I [you] made my decision.
“If it doesn’t go my way, at least I’m responsible for that. But if you hand over that responsibility to somebody else, you can’t complain later.”
