Samia Nkrumah, daughter of Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, has revealed that Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, the leader of the New Force Movement, approached her to be his running mate for the 2024 general elections.

In an interview on Star FM’s Starr Chat, Samia disclosed that she declined the offer.

“Yes, Cheddar did approach me. But I told him that I’ve invested too much in Jomoro, and I believe the Nkrumahist tradition must be represented in Parliament, in our decision-making,” she explained.

“I’ve put a lot into this, and I want to see it through. The Nkrumahist tradition needs to be clearly and convincingly represented in Parliament, which I feel is lacking today,” she added.

Samia Nkrumah also highlighted her belief that many Ghanaians have the potential to make a positive impact, both within and outside of politics. However, she stressed that achieving political power requires a well-defined and strategic approach.

“I believe many Ghanaians have what it takes inside and outside politics. But politics, anyway, it’s a different thing, because when vying for political power, I think you have to do it with a strategic aim.”

Samia Nkrumah reaffirmed her dedication to the Nkrumahist tradition, emphasizing her significant investment in it.

“I want to see that happen. I’ve invested too much in that.” She also acknowledged that many Ghanaians have the potential to make a positive impact, but noted that politics requires a strategic approach.
