Election 2024: Jean Mensa assures Ghanaians they will not be disappointed

Jean Mensa, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), has reiterated the commission’s commitment to providing a credible and reliable voter register for the December 2024 elections.

During an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Tuesday, October 1, Mensa assured Ghanaians of the EC’s dedication to fulfilling its mandate and encouraged the public to have confidence in the commission as the 2024 general elections draw near.

She emphasized the vital importance of voter registration, describing it as the “foundation of any election,” and reaffirmed the EC’s duty to ensure a robust and trustworthy register.

Reflecting on the successful conduct of the 2020 elections, Mensa assured political parties and stakeholders that the EC would achieve similar success in the upcoming elections, highlighting the commission’s proven track record in delivering transparent and fair electoral processes.

“Ladies and gentlemen, we are mindful of the importance of the voters registering in an election. It is the bedrock of any election. indeed an accurate voter register is seen… for a fair transparent and credible election. It is in our interest as a commission to produce a credible and robust final voter register.

“We did this in 2020 and we will do it again in 2024. We urge you all and the citizens of Ghana to trust us. We will not fail you, we will not disappoint you and we commit and pledge to conducting and undertaking a free, fair, transparent and credible election come December 2024,” he stated.
