Following the intervention of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, two feuding factions in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) within the Fomena Constituency have reconciled.
The dispute, which began in 2020, led to the closure of the party’s office in Fomena for four years, disrupting the party’s activities and administration in the area.

During his campaign tour, Dr. Prempeh facilitated a meeting that brought the two factions together.
Sources from the closed-door meeting indicated that Dr. Prempeh demonstrated maturity by carefully listening to both current and former party executives who had been at odds.
He encouraged them to forgive past grievances and unite for the benefit of the party.
Dr. Prempeh highlighted the NPP administration’s efforts under President Akufo-Addo over the past eight years to foster national prosperity, urging party members to maintain peace and unity for a successful campaign.
Regarding the NPP’s decision to nominate sitting Independent MP Andrew Asiamah as their parliamentary candidate for the 2024 elections, Dr. Prempeh expressed support for the choice, noting Asiamah’s collaboration with NPP members in Parliament despite his independent status in 2020.
He emphasized that this decision could help attract former party members back to the fold, boosting NPP votes in the constituency.
He urged NPP members in Fomena to rally behind Andrew Asiamah to secure the parliamentary seat, enabling the party to maintain a majority in Parliament.
Akwasi Nti, former Fomena NPP Constituency Chairman and leader of one of the factions, returned the keys to the party office, expressing his faction’s commitment to unity out of respect for Dr. Prempeh.
He pledged to work collaboratively with all party members for a significant electoral victory.
Current Fomena NPP Constituency Chairman Akwasi Adom also called for peace and forgiveness, promising to lead a united NPP in the constituency throughout the upcoming elections and encouraging members to uphold hard work.
