Former Finance Minister Seth Terkper has expressed strong confidence that John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) can bring about significant and meaningful transformation in Ghana within just four years if they win the upcoming December 7 elections.

Terkper, who served as Finance Minister under Mahama’s presidency, believes the NDC’s proven track record in governance clearly demonstrates what the party can achieve if it returns to power.
Speaking during a media interaction in Accra on Tuesday, August 27, Terkper emphasized the NDC’s commitment to Ghana’s development, highlighting the party’s accomplishments during its previous time in office as evidence of its ability to lead the country toward prosperity.
According to Terkper, the NDC’s achievements under Mahama are not merely promises but tangible results that Ghanaians have experienced firsthand.
He pointed out the party’s competence in fiscal management, an area in which he believes the NDC excelled during its time in government.
He further noted that the NDC’s 2024 manifesto is not just a set of promises but is rooted in a solid track record of performance, which he argues distinguishes the party from its competitors.
“The NDC’s record in office is clear. If there are any doubts, we can discuss them. From fiscal management, you know where we ended the year with 6.1%. Forget about the 9.3% or 10.3%—those figures were incorrect, and we challenged them.
The IMF corrected them, and we showed you the actual deficit and debt fiscal performance.
The manifesto is based on performance,” Terkper stated.
He added that Mahama’s leadership qualities are exactly what Ghana needs at this critical time, asserting that Mahama’s experience and vision make him the ideal candidate to guide Ghana towards economic recovery and growth.
Terkper concluded by saying that Mahama’s previous tenure laid the foundation for sustainable development, and with the right support, he can build on that foundation to achieve even greater progress.
