The leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Western North Region has officially launched “Operation 9 Over 9,” a campaign aimed at regaining the three parliamentary seats currently held by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

At present, the NDC controls six of the nine parliamentary seats in the region, while the NPP holds the remaining three.

Michael Aidoo, the regional chairman of the NDC, expressed optimism that the party will successfully reclaim these seats in the upcoming elections. He noted that the issues which led to the NDC’s losses to the NPP have been addressed.

During a media briefing as part of NDC Vice Presidential candidate Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang’s tour of the Central and Western regions, Aidoo highlighted the party’s substantial progress in its efforts to regain the contested seats.

“There are a few mistakes we made in the 2020 elections that gave away the seat to NPP. Akontombra has always been for the NDC but there was a bit of misunderstanding that led to the seat going for the NPP. For Sewfi Wiawso’s seat, the NPP stole the elections. The areas that were NDC-dominated areas saw ballot boxes stolen among others.

“Bibiani used to be for the NDC but the NPP manipulated and won the seat. It is closer to the Ashanti Region which is a stronghold of the NPP. They usually bring people from the Ashanti Region to register in Bibiani.

“We have done our homework well and we are confident of winning. By 8th December we will win the rest of the three seats. We have tagged the campaign operation nine over nine,” he stated.
