The Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt for individuals identifying as the “NDC Youth of Obuasi” following a viral video in which the group issued threats of violence ahead of the 2024 General Elections.
In a statement issued on November 15, the police condemned the group’s actions as a violation of public peace under Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
A coordinated operation is currently underway to locate and arrest the suspects. The authorities have reiterated their commitment to safeguarding a peaceful electoral process and cautioned against any actions that could jeopardize public safety.
The Police Service has also urged citizens to report any information that could aid in the swift apprehension of the individuals involved.
