The President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has urged all stakeholders and political parties to prioritize the peace and welfare of Ghanaians as the country approaches the 2024 general elections.

He made this appeal during the launch of the National Peace Campaign, themed “Let Peace Prevail,” held at the forecourt of the State House.
In his address, Apostle Nyamekye called on stakeholders to refrain from violence, highlighting the importance of sacrifice, compromise, and deliberate actions that will foster peace and stability for Ghanaians during the election period and beyond.
“We are gathered as one people. It is not about our political differences, but about putting aside denominational barriers and religious restrictions and focusing instead on our shared identity as Ghanaians.
“Over the years, the lord has been very gracious to Ghana in many respects, especially with regard to peace. Ghana is celebrated across the world as an oasis of peace in the West Africa sub-region and even in the whole of Africa. As a nation, we have experienced eight peaceful general elections, with numerous by-elections in the Fourth Republic.
“These significant accomplishments did not come by chance but by contribution from various stakeholders, many of whom are represented here. I must, however, acknowledge, that while the overall atmosphere of these elections has been peaceful, occasionally, the same instances of violence which sometimes have led to the tragic loss of lives are something we should avoid going forward as a nation as we work together in peace,” he stated.
