Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged voters to prioritize the competence of candidates over religious affiliations or other factors when casting their ballots in the upcoming elections.

Known as ‘NAPO,’ he emphasized the need for a capable leader to drive the country’s progress. He affirmed that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, a devout Muslim, is the most qualified and suitable candidate to lead the nation as president at this time.
Speaking at Afrancho in the Afigya Kwabre South Constituency during his Ashanti Regional campaign tour, NAPO remarked that Ghanaians share a common destiny and should focus on selecting a president with the necessary knowledge and leadership skills.
“In casting your vote for the next president of our beloved country, I urge you to choose the individual who can uphold the achievements of the past eight years,” he stated.
Addressing an audience that included traditional leaders and Imams, NAPO highlighted the longstanding peace and harmony among Ghanaians.
He expressed his appreciation for the country’s religious coexistence and commended the chiefs for their roles in fostering peaceful relations.
“Chiefs are neither Muslims nor pastors, but they give their lands for the establishment of churches and mosques for worship, and that is the beauty of being a Ghanaian.
“We respect each other because what unites us as Ghanaians is bigger and greater than any other thing. We should, therefore, be guided by this by voting for competence.
“Where a person is coming from or his/her religion is not important. What is important is what the person can do as president to lead our country into prosperity,” he advised.
