The Movement for Change has joined calls for a forensic audit of the 2024 provisional voter register, intensifying pressure on the Electoral Commission (EC) to address concerns regarding the register’s integrity.

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has spearheaded this demand, claiming that the register is tainted by illegalities and errors.
To bolster their appeal, the NDC organized a nationwide demonstration on September 17, titled “Enough is Enough,” urging the EC to permit an audit of both the register and the commission’s IT system.
In an interview with Eyewitness News, Nana Ohene Ntow, the Director of Elections, Planning, and Coordination for the Movement for Change, expressed the group’s commitment to a transparent resolution.
He highlighted the necessity for the EC to engage with stakeholders to foster confidence in the electoral process.
“We have seen the electoral commission, sitting down stakeholders to resolve matters. So, we do not expect the EC to take on a recalcitrant position.
In any case, if the EC has indeed corrected them, that is even more reason why it is very important to sit with the stakeholders and then declare to let everybody get confidence in the electoral commission.
“I don’t think this will hurt the electoral commission at all and I don’t think that after that kind of exercise which will prove the transparency of the process, nobody will have any course to raise suspicion and doubt.
“I think it will be in the best interest of the EC to heed to the call of the people of Ghana, the key stakeholders on whom they are exercising their mandate,” he stated.
He continued “We think that this is a matter which the EC should not give that kind of response. The NDC chose to go on demonstration. We think that the best thing to do is to reason things out,” he added.
