The Electoral Commission (EC) has dismissed accusations of collusion with any political party to manipulate the upcoming December 7 general elections.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) had recently alleged that the EC was working with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to sway election results in the Ashanti Region.

Speaking at a security symposium at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, Dr. Serebuor Quaicoe, the EC’s Head of Training, called the claims baseless.

He reassured the public that Ghana’s electoral system is specifically designed to prevent any form of rigging, ensuring both transparency and integrity in the election process.

“There is no way an election in Ghana can be rigged. There is no way. It can only be done with the collaboration of all stakeholders. Because at any point in time, the people are there. That will mean the Electoral Commission will be compromised and the party agents themselves will be compromised.

“Because when they count, and it is 10, they say it is 100, and everybody agrees. It is not possible. So, there can be irregularities, there can be fraudulent activities, but rigging an election is impossible in Ghana.”
