Bernard Monarh, the flagbearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC), has been disqualified from contesting in the 2024 elections.

On Friday, September 20, the Electoral Commission (EC) approved thirteen candidates as eligible for the December polls. Monarh is among the eleven candidates disqualified from the initial 24 who filed nominations last week.

“After successfully conducting the Filing of Nominations from September 9 to September 13, 2024, the Commission undertook a thorough review of the Nomination Forms submitted by the candidates to ensure compliance with legal requirements,” the press release stated.

“The Electoral Commission wishes to inform the general public that the following individuals have successfully completed the Nomination process and are eligible to contest in the 2024 Presidential Election,” it concluded.

In an interview with TV3 on News Central, Bernard Monarh revealed that his lawyers have contacted the EC to request an explanation for his disqualification.

He further criticized the EC’s announcement of the eligible candidates, calling it “bogus.”
