Electoral Commission interdicts officials over biometric device theft

Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, the Director of Electoral Services at the EC, gave updates on the case, stating that the suspects have been transferred to the police for additional investigations.

“What I can say on authority is that we lost one BVD in North Tongu and what happened was that we normally package these things in ballot boxes; you put your systems in and you seal it.

Following allegations of Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs) theft, the Electoral Commission (EC) has interdicted five of its officials.

He explained that they reported the loss of one BVD and identified the suspects to the police for investigation.

The suspects have been interdicted and are undergoing investigations.

The police have assured that the suspects will be arraigned in court soon. He emphasized the need for the legal process to be followed diligently.
