Ghana midfielder Elisha Owusu scored his first-ever Ligue 1 goal for Auxerre, leading them to a 3-0 victory over Brest at the Stade de l’Abbé-Deschamps on Friday night.

Owusu opened the scoring for the hosts in the 26th minute after receiving a pass from Ivory Coast’s Sinaly Diomande, while Jubal added a penalty just before halftime to make it 2-0.
Ivorian international Hamed Junior Traore capped off the scoring shortly before the hour mark with a powerful finish, assisted by Owusu.
This win moved Auxerre up to 12th place in the league, while Brest dropped to 13th.
In his sixth Ligue 1 appearance for Auxerre, Owusu was crucial last season as they aimed for promotion, having made 33 appearances in Ligue 2.
Owusu’s Ghanaian teammate, Gideon Mensah, made his season debut after recovering from injury, replacing Clement Akpa in the 67th minute.
Both Owusu and Mensah are expected to be in contention for the Black Stars squad for their upcoming match against Sudan in October.
