Elsie Addo Awadzi retires as Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana

Elsie Addo Awadzi, the Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), has announced her retirement from the Central Bank, effective February 28, 2025.

The announcement was confirmed in a statement from the Presidency on Friday, February 7, 2025.

President John Dramani Mahama accepted her decision to take early retirement and expressed profound gratitude for her outstanding service to the Bank of Ghana and the nation.

He praised her significant contributions to Ghana’s financial sector and wished her success in her future endeavors.

“The President thanks Mrs. Elsie Addo Awadzi for her distinguished service to the Bank and the Republic and wishes her well in her future endeavors,” the statement read.

Mrs. Awadzi’s tenure at the Bank of Ghana was marked by significant achievements in monetary policy, financial stability, and economic governance.
