Real Madrid secured a dramatic 4-2 extra-time victory over Celta Vigo to advance to the Copa del Rey quarter-finals.
Despite leading 2-0 with goals from Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr, Real Madrid faced a late scare when Jonathan Bamba scored in the 83rd minute, and Marcos Alonso, a former Real Madrid youth player, converted a stoppage-time penalty to level the game at 2-2.

In extra time, Brazilian sensation Endrick came off the bench to inspire Carlo Ancelotti’s side. The 18-year-old scored twice, including a brilliant backheel finish, before Federico Valverde added a fourth to seal the win at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Elsewhere on Thursday, Spanish Cup holders Athletic Bilbao were upset 3-2 by Osasuna.
Ante Budimir starred for visitors with a double, adding to Aimar Oroz’s opener, as goals from Nico Williams and Oscar de Marcos for Ernesto Valverde’s hosts proved in vain.
Last season’s semi-finalists Real Sociedad also booked a spot in the last eight after a 3-1 home win against Rayo Vallecano.
The draw for the quarter-finals will take place on Monday, 20 January, and will also feature Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Leganes and Getafe.
