Liverpool showcased their dominance with a 3-1 victory over Leicester City at Anfield, extending their lead at the top of the Premier League table to seven points.

Despite an early scare when Jordan Ayew gave Leicester an unexpected lead, Liverpool displayed resilience. Cody Gakpo equalized just before halftime, finishing off a well-constructed attack.

Curtis Jones, celebrating his 100th Premier League appearance, put Liverpool ahead early in the second half with a composed finish. Mohamed Salah added the third goal, taking his tally to 19 for the season.

The result marked Liverpool’s 11th win in their last 13 games across all competitions, cementing their status as title favorites. Manager Arne Slot praised his team’s ability to bounce back, saying, “We showed how good we are.”

On the other hand, Manchester United continued their downward spiral with a 2-0 loss to Wolves at Molineux. United’s Bruno Fernandes was sent off two minutes into the second half for a second bookable offense, leaving his team vulnerable.

Wolves capitalized on the advantage, with Matheus Cunha scoring directly from a corner as Andre Onana struggled under pressure. Hwang Hee-chan secured the win in the dying moments with a tap-in.

This was United’s third consecutive loss in all competitions and their fifth defeat in 10 games under new manager Ruben Amorim. Now languishing in 14th place, just eight points above the relegation zone, Amorim admitted, “It’s tough to win games in this league with 11 men; with 10, it’s even harder.”

United face a daunting schedule with upcoming matches against Newcastle and league leaders Liverpool.

Elsewhere, Manchester City’s struggles continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Everton, with Erling Haaland missing a penalty. Chelsea suffered a shock 2-1 home defeat to Fulham, while Nottingham Forest climbed to third with a narrow 1-0 win over Tottenham.
