Former Member of Parliament for Subin, Eugene Boakye Antwi, has paid a courtesy call on former President John Agyekum Kufuor at his residence in Peduase as part of consultations following his decision to contest the General Secretary position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The visit, according to reports, was to formally brief the former President on his already-declared bid and to seek counsel as the party prepares for its internal elections.

Boakye Antwi was accompanied by a number of senior party figures, including former Asante Akyem North MP Andy Appiah-Kubi and former Awutu Senya West MP George Andah, among others.

His engagement with Mr Kufuor comes as the NPP intensifies internal consultations ahead of its nationwide reorganisation exercise, following the party’s presidential primaries held on January 31, 2026, which produced Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia as flagbearer.

According to the party’s official roadmap, constituency-level elections are scheduled to begin on April 20, 2026. The process will start at the polling station level, with nominations opening on April 20 and closing on April 24.

Vetting of aspirants is expected to take place between April 25 and April 30, with an appeals window set for May 1 to May 4, as the party positions itself for the next general elections.
