Former President of Ghana, John Agyekum Kufuor, has endorsed the upcoming National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving set for July 1, 2025, emphasising the need for governance in the country to be grounded in the values of humanity, unity, and inclusiveness.

He made these remarks during a courtesy call by the Planning Committee for the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving at his residence in Peduase on Friday, May 30.

The former President also commended President John Mahama for the initiative, describing Republic Day as significant.

“The Republic Day was when Ghana gave itself its first president, and it is a day that is not supposed to be overlooked. So if President Mahama has thought in his faith not only to use the day as the day Ghana became a republic country but to give thanks to God and ask for deepened prosperity, then I say he thought it right, and I agree with him. So we look forward to that and celebrate it.”

Chairman of the Planning Committee, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, expressed appreciation for the former President’s endorsement and support.

“Kufuor gave us a warm and cordial reception, and he also went on to endorse the whole idea and promised that he would be there. He has promised that he will be there if he is available.”
