Charlotte Osei, the former Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, revealed that she wasn’t surprised by the events leading to her removal from office in 2018, as she had anticipated the outcome.

In 2017, a petition was filed against Osei by concerned EC workers, accusing her of making decisions on her own and engaging in fraudulent activities, such as canceling a contract with Superlock Technologies Limited (STL) and approving a $76,000 payment to the IT firm Dream Oval.
A committee, formed by the then Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo under Article 146(4) of the Constitution, investigated the complaints brought by Ghanaian citizens against Osei and her deputies.
Based on the committee’s findings, President Akufo-Addo removed Charlotte Osei, along with her deputies Amadu Sulley and Georgina Opoku Amankwaa, from office in 2018.
In an interview on Joy FM, Charlotte Osei stated, “I knew the people I was dealing with, so I expected it. It was a whole drama from the petition till the end.”
She added that after reviewing the petition and the committee’s findings, it was clear that the process was orchestrated, though she accepted the outcome.
While she refrained from commenting on whether her removal was politically motivated, Osei assured that the full story would be shared in her upcoming book.
