Facebook has placed a warning labels on posts by Joe Biden that and Donald Trump as part of the social media site’s policy for the 2020 general election.

“Votes are being counted. The winner of the 2020 US Presidential Election has not been projected,” the warning reads.

Every one of the two candidates election posts have received that label, no matter what the content of the posts include.

For example, Mr Biden shared a post on Facebook attempting to ease his supporters about the current electoral predictions in several battleground states. His post read: “Keep the faith, folks. We’re gonna win this.”

That post received a label from the social media site.

Facebook likely opted to label every post from both presidential candidates to avoid backlash from both Mr Trump and Mr Biden.

Mr Trump has attacked both Facebook and Twitter for previously labelling his tweets and posts as misleading when spreading misinformation regarding the 2020 election.

But the president has gotten off without any labels throughout Tuesday night.

Twitter was quick to dispute a tweet from the president that suggested Democrats were  “trying to STEAL the election”.
