Edward Borketey Sackey, a final-year General Arts student at O’Reilly Senior High School, was tragically stabbed to death by a fellow student.
The incident took place on the school’s premises on Tuesday, September 3, shortly after the 18-year-old had completed an exam.

According to his cousin, who witnessed the event, the stabbing occurred during a fight with a colleague named Godwin.
She explained that the fight stemmed from a trivial argument.
“He had a paper in the morning and came to me saying he was done with his exam… A few minutes later, we heard some commotion behind us.
When we asked what was going on, we were told that Godwin and Edward were fighting. I inquired about the reason for the fight and was told it was nothing serious.
“The whole thing started with a silly argument—’What do you have? I have this and that. You’re lying.’ That’s what led to the fight. So, I assumed it was just a minor scuffle.
“Shortly afterward, Godwin approached me and threatened that I should warn my brother, or else his blood would flow.
I told him it wasn’t that serious,” she recounted.
She added that Edward ran to the teachers for help when the chaos began, but they “didn’t do anything.”
Concerned, she hurried to her uncle’s shop, located outside the school, to report the situation, but he wasn’t there.
Tragically, by the time she returned, Edward had been fatally stabbed by Godwin, a final-year Visual Arts student with whom he had been fighting.
