A major fire engulfed a furniture warehouse along Spintex Road in Accra on Monday night, causing extensive damage and leading to significant losses.

The fire broke out at around 9 p.m., prompting a quick response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), with the Kasapreko Command being the first on the scene.
The blaze, fueled by highly flammable materials such as foam and upholstery products, spread rapidly within the warehouse, making firefighting efforts more difficult.

To manage the fire, the GNFS used foam concentrate, a specialized firefighting agent designed for dealing with flammable materials.
Alex King Nartey, the GNFS Public Relations Officer, shared details about the operation in a Facebook livestream, highlighting the challenges firefighters faced in containing the fire.

“The Kasapreko crew quickly realized the scale of the fire and called for backup from several other stations, including the GNFS Headquarters, Trade Fair, University of Ghana, and Abelemkpe,” he explained.
The prompt arrival of additional reinforcements helped prevent the fire from spreading to nearby warehouses and properties, averting a potentially catastrophic situation in the area.
After nearly three hours of intense firefighting, the blaze was finally brought under control around 11:30 p.m.
